Today, the final touches were added to the ‘Weeping Windows‘ poppy installation in preparation for the display to open to the public tomorrow.
The display is made up of several thousand poppies, which can be seen to cascade down between two of the pillars at the front of Liverpool’s St. George’s Hall.
‘Weeping Windows‘, created by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper, is part of the bigger Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red display that was seen at The Tower of London last year.
The installation was created to commemorate the fallen of World War 1 and has been brought to the city by 14-18NOW – the programme highlighting the centenary of World War 1. This is the third commission by the programme in the city, the other two being ships on the waterfront.
‘Weeping Windows‘ will be open from 7th November until 17th January.
