Man Tasered in Wavertree

Just after 9 o’clock this morning, a man in his twenties was reportedly Tasered three times by police at a property on Gainsborough Road.

Officers were called to the scene to find a man armed with two knives, having sustained self-inflicted injuries to his neck and arms. They showed up at the property following neighbours’ concerns for the man’s safety.

Due to the man barricading himself inside the property, the police sealed the house off. Following this, the man, who is believed to be in his twenties, is thought to have climbed out of the house and into the garden via a rear window.

It was later confirmed by police that it was whilst in the garden that the man was Tasered a number of times in order to safely detain him.

Nobody else was hurt and paramedics removed the man from the property within an hour of the police’s arrival.
