Liverpool Islamic Society raises £34,000 for charity


Between the 9th November and 14th November, LIVISOC raised £34,197.52 for the Human Relief Foundation.

The Islamic Society made this staggering amount through holding a charity week. Various events took place including an auction at which one generous person bought a chocolate cake for £2000. 80 people also scaled Snowdon, raising £20,000 of the final figure in just one event.

According to the LGoS website, Tahira Akbar, who headed the charity drive, said:

The love and support has been second to none, raising £34K was a true team effort, and we only hope our efforts are accepted. Thanks to everyone involved and to everyone who supported us.

All of the money is being donated to the Human Relief Foundation’s ‘Path of Mercy’ project.
